Frequently Asked Drainage Questions

Straightforward answers to the questions Auckland homeowners ask us most often.

Inspections & Diagnosis

Everything you need to know about what happens during a CCTV drain inspection and what the report covers.

A CCTV drain inspection uses a waterproof camera mounted on a flexible push-rod that travels through your drain pipes. The camera transmits live footage to a monitor, allowing us to see the internal condition of the pipe — any cracks, root intrusion, blockages, displaced joints, or collapsed sections — in real time. Everything is recorded and included in the written report.

Most residential inspections take 1–2 hours onsite for the CCTV survey itself, plus 1–2 hours offsite compiling the specific site information. We'll give you a time estimate when you book.

We recommend being present if possible — it lets us walk you through the footage in real time and answer questions as they arise. However, if you're unable to be present, we can complete the inspection and send you the report afterwards. For pre-purchase inspections on properties you don't own, we coordinate access through the vendor's agent.

The written report includes an executive summary, section-by-section condition ratings, annotated screenshots from the camera footage, a defect register with recommended actions, and indicative repair costs where defects are found. The full video footage is also provided digitally.

We can inspect most residential drain sizes — including 100mm and 150mm wastewater and stormwater pipes. The camera accesses pipes via inspection chambers, gullies, and cleanout points. Some pipes may not be accessible due to their size, bend configuration, or physical obstruction — we'll advise on-site if this applies.

Costs & Quotes

How our pricing works, and what you can expect in terms of estimates and fixed-price commitments.

Inspection pricing depends on the size of the property and the number of drain runs. We provide a fixed price for the inspection upfront. See our Pricing Guide for indicative costs, or contact us for a specific quote.

Yes. All repair work is quoted at a fixed price after the CCTV inspection — so you know exactly what you'll pay before we start. We don't charge by the hour for repair work.

If you proceed with a repair based on our inspection findings, the inspection cost is deducted from the repair invoice. If no repair is needed, or you choose not to proceed, the inspection is charged as a standalone service.
